The Addis Ababa Declaration has been finalised and will present Africa’s official agenda at the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30) in Brazil.

Issued jointly by the African Union and the Ethiopian government, the declaration follows the second Africa Climate Summit held in Addis Ababa from September 8 to 10, 2025. It underscores Africa’s firm stance on climate action and highlights the continent’s ambition to lead global climate solutions.

The summit, attended by over 25,000 participants and featuring more than 199 parallel sessions and workshops, focused on scaling global climate solutions and financing Africa’s green economy. Forty-three exhibitors showcased innovations in climate mitigation and environmental sustainability, reflecting Africa’s growing role in climate diplomacy and technological innovation.

The declaration calls for sustained financial support to implement Africa-led climate initiatives and advance Ethiopia’s flagship green development projects. It emphasizes the importance of enhancing sustainable land use, renewable energy deployment, and regional environmental strategies.
