City administration sources said that more than 11,000 new peacekeeping force candidates will participate in the training, which is scheduled to be held in all sub-cities.
Ms. Lydia Girma, Head of the Addis Ababa City Peace and Security Administration Bureau, said that the peacekeepers will receive “field military training” in addition to the theoretical education they receive.
According to the head, the theoretical training provided to the members focuses on the changing nature and shape of criminal activities in the city.
Ms. Lydia said that the city can be prevented from facing “anti-peace” and “extremist” activities through a strong partnership between the security structure and the people.
