Addis Ababa Administration Rewards Top-Performing Offices With Vehicles, Certificates

The Addis Ababa City Administration has awarded recognition and prizes to government offices, institutions, sub-cities and districts that recorded strong performance in the 2025/26 fiscal year, citing their contribution to improving public services. The administration awarded vehicles to top-performing institutions, including the Peace and Security Bureau, Health Bureau, Revenues Bureau, Design and Construction Works Bureau, and Education Bureau among cabinet-level offices. The Women’s Rehabilitation and Skills Development Centre “For the Future” received special recognition.

Among sub-cities, Bole, Lemi Kura and Addis Ketema were awarded vehicles for their performance, while the Regulation Enforcement Authority, Roads Authority, Water and Sewerage Authority, Transport Authority and Cleaning Administration Agency were recognised among non-cabinet institutions. A total of 33 districts were also recognised, with one to three best-performing districts selected from each sub-city.

The administration also provided certificates to additional institutions and offices. Cabinet-level offices receiving certificates included the Finance Bureau, Industry Development Bureau, Communication Bureau, Trade Bureau and Justice Bureau. Non-cabinet institutions awarded certificates included the Civil Registration and Resident Services Agency, Working Places Development Administration and Addis Media Network. Kolfe Keranio, Lideta and Yeka sub-cities also received certificates.

The city administration said the recognition was intended to encourage competition among public institutions, improve service delivery and motivate lower-performing entities to strengthen their performance. “The recognition belongs to the leadership, professionals at all levels, stakeholders and the public who worked together,” the administration said, adding that the award would serve as a responsibility to further improve efforts to meet residents’ development needs.

The administration said the awards were not intended to create complacency but to encourage institutions to work harder in the coming fiscal year and expand access to public services. This initiative is expected to foster greater accountability and efficiency across government offices in the capital.
