Redwan Hussein, Director General of Ethiopia’s National Intelligence and Security Service, visited Mogadishu on Tuesday, meeting with Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, according to BBC Somali.

The officials reportedly carried a message from Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, addressing recent regional developments, though details of the discussions remain undisclosed.

The visit follows Prime Minister Abiy’s trip to Djibouti, where he engaged with President Ismail Omar Guelleh on matters of geopolitical change, peace, stability, and cooperation on mutual interests.

Regional tensions have increased in the wake of Israel’s recognition of Somaliland’s sovereignty, a move that has drawn Somali grievances and intensified sensitivities across the Horn of Africa.

Neither the Ethiopian nor Somali governments have issued formal statements regarding the meeting, leaving the scope and outcomes of the discussions unconfirmed.
