At least eight countries have indicated that they received invitations to join President Donald Trump’s newly established Board of Peace, a group of global leaders tasked with overseeing reconstruction and policy initiatives in Gaza, signalling Washington’s ambition for a broader international role.

Hungary and Vietnam have confirmed their acceptance. A U.S. official, speaking on condition of anonymity due to the confidential nature of the board’s charter, said that a contribution of 1 billion US dollars guarantees permanent membership, while a three-year term does not require financial input. The official added that funds raised would be directed towards Gaza’s reconstruction.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, a prominent supporter of Trump in Europe, confirmed his participation through Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó in an interview with state radio on Sunday. Vietnam’s Communist Party leader, To Lam, also accepted the invitation, according to a statement from the Vietnamese foreign ministry.

India has reportedly received an invitation, according to a senior government official familiar with the matter, who spoke on condition of anonymity as the decision has not yet been publicly disclosed.
