Commission Reports Over 65,500 Former Fighters Reintegrated Into Society

The National Rehabilitation Commission announced that since November 2017, it had rehabilitated more than 65,500 former combatants and reintegrated them into society.

The commission, in a statement issued on August 12, 2025, stated that it is working to enable former combatants who have come to peace through the peace agreement, in response to calls made by the government, elders, and religious leaders, to become a force for peace and development in the country.

Hence, since November 2017, more than 65,500 former fighters have been rehabilitated and reintegrated into society

Of these, 53,319 are from Tigray Region, 5,365 from Oromia Region, 5,168 from Amhara Region, and 1,712 from Afar Region, the statement said.
