More than 60,000 people have fled the city after Sudan's Rapid Support Forces (RSF) took control of El Fasher, the UN said.

El Fasher, one of Sudan's key cities, has been the scene of widespread killings and famine since the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) took control of the city.

The United Nations has said that "arbitrary killings" are taking place. Yale University's Department of Humanitarian Affairs also said it had seen "the remains of people who had been arbitrarily killed" in a survey using satellite imagery.

Eugene Bion, who works for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), told the BBC that residents of El-Fasher had fled to the town of Tawila, 80 kilometers (50 miles) from the city.

They also reported that the number of residents leaving the city has increased in the past few days.

UNHCR staff said the agency is struggling to provide shelter and food to the displaced.

Residents who fled the besieged El-Fasher have reported various human rights violations, including rape.
