Three Oromia Cooperative Bank Employees and 11 Security Forces Killed in Chanicho Attack

Three Oromia Cooperative Bank employees and 11 security personnel were killed in an attack by "unidentified" gunmen in Sululta district of North Shewa zone, Oromia region, the bank's Head of Marketing and Public Relations, Ato Tolera Shula, told midia.

The attack occurred when the bank employees were transporting money from the Mulo branch to Addis Ababa by car when they arrived in the Ancho town area at around 4:00 am, said Tolera. He also announced that four people who survived the attack are receiving medical attention.

In addition to three bank employees, eleven security personnel were also killed in the attack, Tolera said.

Two of the employees were drivers, and one was a person transporting money to Addis Ababa, he said.

He described the perpetrators of this incident as "armed groups," but confirmed that further investigation into their identities is underway and that the Oromia Cooperative Bank is also being monitored.
